Named for the ancient Cherokee war and trading path that once crossed this land, Warriors' Path State Park sits on 970 acres along the shores of Fort Patrick Henry Lake in Kingsport. The park offers a marina, swimming pool, 18-hole golf course, horseback riding, mountain biking, disc golf, and over 12 miles of hiking trails, all set against the backdrop of Bays Mountain rising to the south. Whether you're casting a line from the marina dock or conquering the Sinking Waters Trail, this park delivers accessible Appalachian adventure.
The park takes its name from the Great Indian Warpath, a network of ancient Native American trails along the Holston River near the Long Island of the Holston. It sits on Fort Patrick Henry Lake, a reservoir on the South Fork Holston River created when the Tennessee Valley Authority built Fort Patrick Henry Dam from 1951 to 1954. Tennessee acquired the park land from the TVA in 1952. The park's 18-hole golf course, designed by George Cobb, opened in 1972.
